The Cottage
The owners of Skippers
have totally renovated the cottage, and have very much enjoyed the project.
Their aim is"to provide a holiday home that visitors will be delighted to stay in".
The furniture, equipment, fittings and furnishings are new. Much care has
been taken in the choice of furnishings, and the result is very tasteful and charming.
The cottage is stone built and one of a row of character cottage near the beach.
The entrance is through the garden gate to a little patio garden, and into the conservatory.
There is a view of Summers Beach from here. The conservatory
has a dining table and chairs, and makes a very pleasant place to sit or dine if
the weather isn't quite warm enough to be outside on the patio.
The conservatory leads into a little hallway, from where you turn right into the
sitting room, woodburner, TV, DVD, video, CD player, and furnished
with comfortable leather sofas. The window faces the front patio, so you can pass
cups of coffee through here to those sitting in the sun. There is a hatch through
to the kitchen.
The kitchen is new, galley style (dishwasher, washer-drier, microwave, freezer)
and has a cleverly designed window to the sitting room which not only provides extra
light, but means you can pass things through. All cupboards, worktops, equipment
etc. are new, and it is very well equipped.
From the hallway is a
flight of stairs to the bedrooms and bathrooms. The double bedroom has
a view towards Summers beach from the bed. An old fireplace
reminds us of yesteryear and gives character. There is an en-suite shower
room/WC.
There is a single bedroom
at the back. This is small but has been designed with clever use of space.
Attractive and light.
The final bedroom is at
the front of the house and has the same sea view as the double
bedroom. This bedroom has one normal 2.6" bed, and one other bed is built
at a higher level with a bunk ladder. This room is very suitable for
two children, but would also suit one adult.
There is a family bathroom
with bath, basin and WC.
Visitors can park outside Skippers (just) to load and unload. The harbour
car park is just a few yards away - approx £7 per day or £14 for 3 days);
the village car park is also close - and cheaper - (approx £16 per week). Prices
approximate.
