The Cottage
Penlee is one of a short row of elegant Georgian houses, at the beginning of
the hill which rises from the harbour. It is a couple of minutes walk away
from the cafes and shops that are on the seafront. Penlee has interesting
views from every aspect, and a spectacular sea view of Summer's
Beach from the top floor. The house is meticulously maintained and is comfortable
at any time of year.
Penlee is one of St Mawes' historic houses. It is a spacious and elegant terraced
family house.
The house is approached by a short sloping walkway to the front door into the hall.
The cosy sitting room has an open fireplace, TV/DVD, CD/MP3 player,
and comfortable sofas. There is a large downstairs shower room/WC - ideal for sailors
and sandy children!
The newly fitted kitchen (dishwasher, washer-drier, microwave, fridge-freezer) has
been equipped to a high standard, and leads to a light conservatory dining area.
The pretty raised garden, reached by steps, is a sheltered suntrap. Its garden
furniture and outside lighting make this an ideal place to dine al fresco.
On the first floor is the main double bedroom with lovely sea views
(King size bed). A twin bedroom is also on this floor with its own hand basin,
and a newly bathroom/WC (hand-shower over bath) is on a half landing. Upstairs
again is "The Crows' Nest", a large family 6' zip linked beds (or two twin) and
a comfy sofa bed. There is a wide seat in the dormer window, with a view
over the sea. This room also has beanbags and video/DVD
(no TV reception in this room), creating a second sitting area for children or teenagers.
This is a very good house for families and three generations. Although it has sleeping
accommodation for 7, it is let for up to 6 people due to the size of the downstairs
sitting room and dining area.
You can load and unload outside on the hill, and car parks are close. Please
note: although very close to the sea and village amenities, the approach to
Penlee is quite steep.
NB Just down the
hill from Rocklee and The Gingerbread House.
