The Cottage
Postbox Cottage is a traditional
Cornish cottage and faces south. It is set on a country lane just on the edge
of the village. This is an exceptionally well-appointed house, and has
full central heating.
The cottage is beautifully
furnished. The owners have provided a welcoming and comfortable home from
home, and keep a constant watch on standards.
There is a large attractive sitting room (TV/DVD/Video, CD player) with a bow window
at one end and an electric look-alike fire at the other. There are comfortable
sofas and chairs, and French windows onto the garden. The furniture
is elegant, and the whole effect is warm, comfortable and friendly.
The dining room is a separate
room. It has a large dining table and chairs and some lovely pictures on the
wall. The kitchen is fairly small (dishwasher, washing machine,
microwave), modern and built in cherry wood. It is well equipped
and provides everything you will need.
There is a door to the
garage (tumble drier, freezer) from the kitchen. The garage
is used for storing things rather than for parking the car. There is plenty
of space in here for bicycles and surfboards.
A brand new shower room/WC
has recently been installed on the same floor as the living rooms.
Upstairs are three south
facing bedrooms. Each one is spacious and light, with co-ordinated furnishings.
There is one double bedroom (TV), one twin bedroom, and one single bedroom - all
looking over the garden. There is a bathroom/WC (sunken bath/shower)
on a half landing halfway up (or down) the stairs.
The garden has a small
lawn with flowers and shrubs, and wooden furniture on a paved patio.
The kitchen overlooks
a field and some old unused farm buildings. This is a haven for rabbits and
birds, but is fenced off so that children are not able to explore it.
Postbox Cottage takes
its name from a George VI postbox which is set into the wall just outside the garden
in the lane. (see picture below). So, no excuses for not posting
cards home!!!
