The Location

Flushing is a picturesque waterside village across the water from Falmouth.  It is possible to imagine yesterday's Cornwall here.  The evening sunsets are magnificent.   There is a good restaurant on the quayside.  Two pubs and several little shops are in the village.   From the quayside is a passenger ferry to Falmouth where connections can be made to other boats to explore further afield by water. 

Kiln Quay Beach in Flushing is used mostly by the local people.  The coastal path between Flushing and Mylor is spectacular.  Mylor has some waterside cafes where you can re-fuel with a Cornish Cream Tea - or something stronger - before returning along the path to Flushing.

Falmouth is accessible by the passenger boat, or about a 10 minute drive.  In Falmouth are waterside shops and galleries, and The National Maritime Museum, Falmouth,  is a fun place to go at any age.   Good beaches.

There is a really good grassy playground on the hill at Flushing called 'The Bowling Green'. It is only a short walk from Clottage. The views from up there are very good, and there are places to have a picnic.

The Cottage

Packet Cottage is delightful and has been thoughtfully equipped for visitors.  It is one of a row of stone-built cottages, with a beautiful panoramic view from the bay window in the sitting room.

Situated at the edge of the village and close to the scenic coastal paths, quaysides and beach, the cottage is a comfortable retreat for a relaxing and peaceful holiday at any time of the year

Enter through a tiled porch.  Downstairs, the country-style dining room (TV) is a restful room styled with pale blues and white.  The country-style kitchen (washing machine, microwave) as a tiled floor, an Aga (October to March) and also a standard cooker. A door from the kitchen leads to a small back garden with a patio area with garden furniture.

One double bedroom is downstairs - also with blue and white furnishing. 

Upstairs, the second double bedroom looks over the garden.  There is a family bathroom (shower over bath) and a separate WC with hand basin. 

Also upstairs is a truly lovely sitting room taking full advantage of an uninterrupted west-facing 180° view over the water  with comfortable armchairs and sofa (TV, DVD).  An extended bay window with seats is a perfect place to sit quietly and ponder the view, including sunsets over the water.

The little garden is enclosed by mature evergreen shrubs and climbers - a veritable suntrap.  It has a patio area with garden furniture.

Parking is unrestricted in the quiet road at the front of the cottage.
